Magazine Spread

For my magazine spread, I chose the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Reading through the article, it is clear that the refuge and its inhabitants are in danger. So for my design, I wanted to convey that as clearly as possible without going overboard and making its contents unreadable. I primarily accomplished this through my use of color, having a light blue as a visually and thematically cohesive design choice. And a bold and contrasting red to draw the viewer to certain “call to action” points throughout the article.

Final

The primary focus of the magazine was to showcase the information in as simple a way as possible. This was done through a series of consistent and balanced design choices, such as color and scale, as well as focusing on the bottom image and text, making sure it goes throughout the entire spread. Every decision was made to make it as clear at a glance as possible on what the message is, and not overwhelm the reader.
